Hi,

it would be extremely useful if future versions of the NetBird client could support automatic profile selection and auto-connect based on the user’s current location or network characteristics.

Many users work from different places (home, office, public networks, etc.) and need to switch between different NetBird profiles depending on the environment. Being able to automatically connect to a specific profile when entering or leaving a “trusted” or “untrusted” location would greatly improve usability and security.

The client could determine the current location or network using one or more of the following:

Egress IP address (e.g., trusted home/office IP ranges)
DNS server in use (corporate DNS vs. public DNS)
SSID / Wi-Fi network name
Gateway MAC address
Presence of specific routes or network interfaces

Expected Behavior:

The user defines rules that match a location or network condition, each rule is associated with a NetBird profile.

When the rule is matched, the client automatically connects using the assigned profile.
Optionally, it can automatically disconnect or switch profiles when leaving that network.

Benefits:

Improved workflow and user experience, reduced need for manual switching, increased security by ensuring the correct VPN profile is always used and make more consistent behavior across different environments

This feature would make NetBird even more flexible for users who frequently move between networks.

This would be a great feature!

I personally use Netbird as full tunnel to my home network, when I'm home I don't Netbird routing traffic outside to my controller and then back to the same network I'm already connected to.

It would be very useful if Netbird could auto disconnect when I'm connected to my home or other trusted Wifi.
