I think users would prefer a monochrome icon on macOS, being more consistent with the Apple design.

Yes! Please. All my tray icons are white.

I would even change it manually, but there is simply no such file in the program folder.

Tracked and resolved under #3312 — PR #3335 added macOS template-icon support so the tray icon now renders monochrome (light/dark adaptive) per Apple's menubar conventions.
