Or, preferably, change the Github repo into a mirror of the Codeberg repo :)

There's also public Gitea instances out there, which would be comparable to Codeberg IMO. Gitlab feels like a bandaid that wouldn't be a permanent solution

In personal experience, the technical process of migrating to Codeberg is easier than I'd thought (I followed Erat's guide), since all the Issues and PRs migrate over, too.  I imagine the hard part is helping active GitHub users tag along with minimal friction, since there's a lack of Foregjo-GitHub interoperability.

Maybe mirroring from GitHub to Codeberg* for 60 days or so before flipping the mirror from Codeberg* to GitHub could work, along with clear timeline indication in the readme?

(* or a good public Gitea instance)
