Hello. here is a list of things that are missing from the netbird-ui:

  • Windows - only one instance of netbird-ui.exe should be allowed to run at any time:

  • loading Animation on the netbird-ui so we know when all the routes, policies and dns servers have been received and are activated (like a spinning icon / different color) and only change to the orange color after the 10-12 seconds it take to load

  • add under "settings" the option to "start on boot" since the netbird-ui doesnt start after a reboot.

  • add under "settings" the option to "enable network monitor" for easier control.

  • add "flush DNS" for easier dns cleanup

  • start netbird-ui after restart

add to the netbird command these options:

  • netbird reload routes / policies / DNS / all - to be able to reload settings without the need to run "netbird down && netbird up"

I would like to add some things to this. I am on MacOS but I guess this goes for Windows etc. as well.

The GUI could be a bit more polished, a bit like Tailscale:

  • Make it easier to choose an exit node to use. Like Tailscale does it, directly from the menubar dropdown.
  • A "VPN on Demand" feature would be nice.
  • An AppleTV app. Not sure how much of the iOS code could be reused, but it'd be nice to have a TvOS app.
