Hello @Nordlicht-13 can you please open a ticket with NetBird's team via support@netbird.io sharing the email of the user you need to update the name? Depending on how the user was registered, we can change on our side, otherwise it will be on your identity provider side.

Hello. I have same issue. I added new user in https://app.netbird.io/team/users with (for me) temporary names, just to create user. But I expected that I could go back and then update first and last name later, but I cannot.

We are currently not supporting a name change through the Dashboard, but I'm leaving this open as a possible feature request.

TLDR; We're pulling in user information from the upstream identity provider, just like a self-hosted instance, except NetBird is the owner of the IdP account. Changing the user's name through the Dashboard would most likely require IdP-specific implementations, resulting in disproportionately large effort.

For those wanting to change their name in the NetBird Cloud offering, please get in touch with support@netbird.io .

It is completely reasonable that changing a user name on the NetBird side would require significant effort to implement and maintain.

I'm trying NetBird with an account registered using a Microsoft Account, and I found that even after I updated the user name for my Microsoft Account, I cannot get NetBird to refetch the user name from Microsoft Account.

Is it possible to manually trigger a user information update that re-pulls information from the IdP (Microsoft Account in this case)?

@frantic1048 could you give us some more details on your setup? This should be working and we'd like to analyze why it isn't working in your specific case.

  1. Did you simply login with Microsoft account to register the account?
  2. Do you have SSO/IdP Sync enabled?

Could you email us at support@netbird.io with your account details so we could look into it? (please attach GH issue link so I can locate it easier)

@nazarewk A few weeks later, I rechecked the account and found that the username had been updated to match the Microsoft account. However, here is some information that might help:

  1. Yes, the account was created by visiting https://login.netbird.io/login and selecting "Sign up with Microsoft."
  2. No, SSO/IdP Sync is not enabled. (This setting has not been changed since the account was created.)
