Today I opened my MacBook from sleep and despite the fact that I closed the netbird ui app a few days ago my software firewall informed me that the process 'netbird' tried to contact 8.8.8.8 (google dns) and some local hostnames.
Wouldn't it be better if the netbird process is also terminated if I close netbird ui? I think this is also how tailscale manages this case.

Hello @vordenken, our UI application is a client for the agent running n daemon mode.

In order to stop it, you must click on disconnect before closing the UI

Hey @mlsmaycon, thanks for your answer!
I clicked on disconnect before closing the ui app, reopening it still shows "disconnected" - the daemon is still running and trying to connect to stuff.

Despite that maybe should the quit button also stop it?

Got it @vordenken; yeah, it keeps running in the background, waiting for commands from the UI client. But it is basically standing there in listening mode, not connecting to anything else.

I would like to replicate the firewall notification, can you share which firewall software you are using?

Regarding make in it fully stoppable from the UI, I think it makes a lot of sense, there are a few things we need to figure out as it would require admin privileges to start it once a user needs to run it again.

I'm running LittleSnitch on my Mac, unfortunately its a paid app - but I think you can test it for 14 days (or something like that).
I got notifications for 8.8.8.8 and a local hostname whilst my wifi wasn't working, maybe that's helping :)

Ok cool, thanks for your work here btw :) Netbird is awesome.

EDIT: Be aware of #542 - if you want to update netbird, you have to remove all netbird entries from littlesnitch and reboot your Mac...

Hello @vordenken , sorry for not returning earlier. We have nothing in the code that could be calling the google DNS, unless the address was set as nameserver in our platform. Can you confirm if the issue still going on?
