it just tells me it's not a valid filter list when i try to import it :/ am i doing it right?

What extension is that? That doesn't look like ublock origin or ublacklist to me

Might be a Github issue.
Directly related:-- wanted to suggest mirroring the file to another site, to avoid such problem.
(Request: when mirroring, please ensure "your servers return...both "Content-Length" and "Last-Modified" headers" re: https://github.com/StevenBlack/hosts/issues/215#issuecomment-530031648 -- yes totally a concession to Hostman, the best hosts-file manager!)
